Redmi Note 12R to Feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 Processor
If you’ve been holding out for a budget-friendly smartphone with the latest chip, your patience is about to pay off. Qualcomm has unveiled its latest chip, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, which will be featured in affordable and select mid-range smartphones starting in the latter half of 2023. The chip boasts an eight-core CPU (2P + 6E), an Adreno GPU, and an integrated 5G modem, and is an improvement over the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chip. The official announcement was made today.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor has six efficiency cores (2.0 GHz boost) and two performance cores (2.2 GHz boost). The CPU cores are not specified, but it is said to be 64-bit only.
A leak has confirmed that the upcoming Redmi Note 12R would be one of the first smartphones to use Qualcomm’s new chip.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 2’s dual 12-bit Spectra ISP can support a single 108-megapixel camera sensor. It also has two 16-megapixel sensors (30 FPS, ZSL (zero shutter lag)) and one 32-megapixel sensor (30 FPS, ZSL). Video shooting can be done in 1080p at 60 fps. Slow motion videos can be recorded up to 720p 120 FPS.
